Every other week on Beginnings: Field Guide, creators deconstruct their favorite projects - from conception to finished product - in order to explore the many different paths the creative process can take.




On today’s show, we talk to Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, the creators and stars of the great webseries Broad City. The two have been performing comedy in New York for many years before starting their show, and after two seasons and growing buzz, it’s now in development at FX with Amy Poehler as one of the executive producers. While hearing Ilana and Abbi’s inspiring story of their hard work paying off, we also found time to discuss the sadness of strip clubs, sneak attack feminism vs. stealth feminism and Uncle Scrooge’s Dick Bin! Also, find out if I’ve ever seen Mark’s penis!

What’s up guys!? If you are in New York City this Saturday, Dec. 17th—I suggest you come hang out with us!  We are doing 2 different events this Saturday for a great cause and we’d love for you to be a part of it!  Recently our good friend and fellow UCB performer D’Arcy Carden had major emergency surgery. Fortunately, she is OK and recovering nicely. Unfortunately, she didn’t have health insurance, which I think a lot of us can relate to. #1: Union Square.  I, (Abbi) had a greeting card company (a few pictured above) I sort of gave up on , but this Saturday we are going to be selling a ton of these cards, and 100% of the proceeds with be goin’ to help out D’Arc.  This is the perfect time of year to get some cards guys!  Each card will be $1-THAT’S NOTHING!  They are all my illustrations, and are either in packs or singles.  We’re asking you to come to Union Square and help Ilana and I SELL THEM!  I want to leave the park empty handed, so let’s do it!  If you can come, email us at abbi and ilana AT gmail DOT com  OR JUST FIND US!
